On June 1, 2012, more than 75 faculty from across Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia gathered at Ryerson University in Toronto for the “Symposium on Quality Education and Academic Freedom in Ontario Colleges,” co-hosted by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT). Marcus Harvey, Executive Director of the Trent University Faculty Association, spoke to those assembled about the importance of bringing academic freedom to Ontario Colleges, and the critical role that OPSEU plays in doing so.
